With the hottest summer we've had in years, going diving is a great way to beat the heat. Later this summer Maryland will have a new wreck to visit. The USS Radford is being prepared for a late summer sinking just north of Ocean City. the Radford is a 500 foot long Spruance class destroyer that is being prepped as a dive attraction. Making it the largest vessel to be sank as an artificial reef off our coast. It's sure to attract lot's of creatures and divers. For those of you that have ventured off shore this year, we've been treated to good visibility, comfortable water temperatures and lot's of edible goodies have been landed. There's still time to enjoy lot's of off-shore fun!

COZUMEL, NOVEMBER 6-12

Enjoy an escape before the hectic holiday season in the warm, crystal clear waters of Cozumel. We'll explore incredible wall dives and reefs teaming with all kinds of creatures! This trip includes beachside hotel, unlimited shore diving, two boat dives daily and meals.

CHESAPEAKE BAY OYSTER DIVES!!!! 

It's time to start planning your fall dive schedule. The dry summer promises to provide lot's of tasty oysters for your enjoyment. This two tank dive is a fun time to explore the bay and bring back the best tasting seafood ever. Don't delay, these trips fill up FAST!

ST. LAWRENCE RIVER

There's still a few spots left on our popular St. Lawrence trips. The water is always warm and diving in a 3mil is possible for most divers. Explore shipwrecks and walls and even get the chance to come home with interesting artifacts.

SPECIALTY CLASSES!

 

UNDERWATER NAVIGATION:  AUGUST 18

Tired of not finding your way? Tired of those long swims back to the beach? The SSI Navigation class will teach you how to better find your way around. Whether diving off-shore or just exploring the quarries the navigation class will help you dive with confidence.

AIRCRAFT ARCHEOLOGY CLASS: SEPTEMBER 1
 

This incredible program will teach you how to research, search for, identify, survey, and recover historic aircraft. Learn from the experts as you'll study actual case histories and wander through history. A fun, informative class for divers who yearn to explore wrecks and other historic sites. There will even be an opportunity to dive and survey an actual World War II aircraft.

STRESS/RESCUE COURSE:starts SEPTEMBER 15

The SSI Stress/Rescue course is a in-depth program to help your prepare for the unexpected. Learn to avoid accidents and how to prepare for surprises. The Stress/Rescue course will give you tips and experience that will help make you a better, safer diver. This course is also required for divers seeking to earn their Master Diver rating or to move on toward leadership level certifications such as the Dive Control Specialist or the Instructor program.

SEARCH & RECOVERY CLASS:  OCTOBER 6

Who hasn't had a friend come up and tell you about losing something overboard. In this program you'll learn the basics in how to search for and recover lost objects.

 

HYDE'S QUARRY NEWS

It has been a great season so far at the quarry! Visibility has been excellent and the water's warm enough you can dive in shallow water with just a 3 mil suit. We've added more benches along the shore to make it easier than ever to keep your gear organized.

Children's Wetsuits

We clearing out our old child sized shorty wetsuits. These suits were used in the Scuba Rangers program and we have lot's of sizes available. Just $15 while they last.
